Follow the instructions below to create a Stellar Lumen wallet with Lobstr!

Getting Started: Create your Lobstr account

Navigate to https://lobstr.co

💡 Bookmark the url lobstr.co. Whenever returning to lobstr.co or any Stellar wallet site, always double check that the url is correct. “Phishing’” websites are common in cryptocurrency and the consequences can be the loss of all your wallet funds — so be vigilant!

Click “SIGN UP!” (top right of screen on desktop.)

Currently, the sign up button goes to the same page as the login button. If this changes, look for the ‘Register now’ link underneath the sign in button to continue.

Enter the email you wish to use along with your selected password, do the captcha test and click “SIGN UP”

💡 Keep your password somewhere safe. Forgetting it could result in lost lumens. More about this later.

On clicking “SIGN UP” you will be presented with a request to verify/confirm your email address.

Lobstr will send the confirmation link to your chosen email address.

You should have received an email similar to the one below. Click the confirmation link to verify your account.

You will be redirected to lobstr.co to login for the first time. You’re not finished yet though! We now need to create or import a wallet within your lobstr.co account.

On clicking the confirmation link you will be taken back to the Lobstr login screen. Enter your login credentials and complete captcha test before selecting “SIGN IN”

💡Ignore the Two-Factor Authentication text box for now. This is an added security measure you may add to your account later.

The first time you sign into Lobstr, you are presented with the “Settings” screen. Here you are able to create or import a wallet, add your first and last name (optional), and adjust your email alert settings.

You now have a Lobstr account, but still need a wallet. Continue on with the guide to either create a new wallet or import an old one.

Set up your Stellar Wallet within Lobstr

At this point you have a Lobstr account, without a wallet set up. You have two options: you can a) create a brand new wallet; or b) import a wallet you have used previously on Lobstr or another Stellar lumens wallet.

Option 1: Create a new wallet

In the selection “Create stellar account” you will need to select a username for your account. This username will be the basis for your easy to remember federated public address which you will be able to receive money from.

💡In the above example I have chosen the username ‘lumenlessons’, this should result in a federated address of lumenlessons*lobstr.co

When you have decided on a username, click “CREATE ACCOUNT”

A popup will appear with your recovery code. This unique code can be used in case you forget your password.

💡Save it somewhere safe! If you don’t have the recovery code or your private key you may lose your funds forever!

You must select the box for ‘Ok, I understand that I need to save the recovery code’ and optionally you can select the second box to ‘Email the recovery code’.

💡Please be aware that emailing the recovery code may leave your account at the mercy of thieves if your email account is ever hacked. The risk of this may be small but this is something to consider. Definitely keep a copy of the recovery code somewhere!

Click “OK” to continue. The settings screen will now have updated showing your Stellar username as well as your Stellar public address. Either of these addresses may be used to to receive lumens from any stellar account (not just Lobstr)

Option 2: Import an existing wallet

This option is for people who already have a wallet set up and wish to use it within Lobstr. Users who utilise this option will not be able to use the federated username like lumenlessons*lobstr.co but will have access to the same interface, email notifications and other options within Lobstr.

Click “ADD AN EXISTING ACCOUNT”

Enter the account number and secret key

If you don’t remember your account number/public key, you can find it out by simply using the stellar account viewer and the secret key.

Once you have entered the details, click “ADD”

The next screen should look like this:

💡Notice how you don’t have access to a federated username (as with option 1). With the import method other Stellar lumen users will need to send money to your public key. This is the one drawback of importing accounts into Lobstr.

You can see below that the transaction history is showing after importing. This information is held on the decentralized Stellar blockchain. In fact, almost all the core functionality is decentralized.

Receiving Lumens

Receiving lumens from exchanges or a friend is super simple with Lobstr!

The easiest way is to have the other party (or yourself) send to your federated stellar username ie. lumenlessons*lobstr.co in my case. When a federated username such as this are used the public address such as GDM6KG54TMDLVGPY6BG6NTE72D52KTVCL77W3Q5GIS725CMZQD5O4ZM3 will be derived. You can learn more about stellar federated addresses and how this works here.

💡Alternatively: the qr code is another user-friendly option to providing the public address to individuals to send you funds(especially if the sender is using a mobile wallet — QR scanning is often inbuilt). The public address, QR and federated username are found in the ‘Recieve’ Section of Lobstr.

You can also use the “REQUEST MONEY” button (top right)

This method is primarily for sending requests to users via email. It’s designed primarily for Lobstr accounts, as it asks for their Stellar account address but If the address is not connected to a Lobstr login, it will ask the user to enter the payer’s email address instead.

If the account is connected to Lobstr, the email address will be derived automatically. Otherwise Lobstr will ask the user to enter the individuals email address.

The email Lobstr sends will look similar to the email below:

Lobstr’s ‘Receive’ is a nice method to easily ask/invoice someone for money (in the form of Lumens). It makes it easy for both parties by providing a simple way to send/receive recipient address information.

Sending Lumens

On the left hand menu click ‘Send’

A ‘Send payment’ popup will appear similar to below

Fill in the recipent details using either the reciever’s public address ie.GDM6KG54TMDLVGPY6BG6NTE72D52KTVCL77W3Q5GIS725CMZQD5O4ZM3 or federated stellar username ie. lumenlessons*lobstr.co
